Dentists

Dr Kim Jaffar

Kim was born in Canberra and completed her Bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Queensland in 1993. She has worked as a dentist in both public and private sectors over her 26 yr career. After working in rural and metropolitan practices in Queensland, Kim cofounded and worked in her own private practice in South Brisbane for 22 years. This has allowed Kim to develop extensive experience in all aspects of general dentistry.

Kim has been a member of the Australian Dental Association for 26 yrs and mentors younger dentists commencing their careers. She is committed to ongoing professional education in all aspects of general dentistry.

Kim’s passion is preventative dentistry, especially for children, and has a commitment to providing exceptional quality treatment in a caring and compassionate manner.

When not at work Kim enjoys spending time with family and friends. She is a member of the RSPCA and loves all creatures great and small.

Dr. Ann Hartshorn

Dr Ann is the easygoing Associate Dentist here at Swish Dental. Ann holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Science, a Master’s of Science in Clinical Physiology, a Bachelor of Oral Health and a Graduate Diploma of Dentistry, all from Griffith University. Ann is an active member of the Australian Dental Association, the Australian Prosthodontic Society, the Australian Society of Endodontology and the Cadmus Society. If Anns not at work, she is probably attending a continuing professional development course or conference. Ann has spent over 7 years at Swish Dental attending to the dental needs of the local community.

It’s Anns driving motivation to help people attain an optimum level of oral health over their lifetime. She tailors individual oral health and restorative plans to allow clients to achieve their life goals, or at least their ideal smile. Oral surgery, restorative dentistry and paediatric dentistry are Anns main areas of interest. In her spare time, Ann enjoys tennis, gardening and attending to her canine family. It is rumoured that Ann regularly sings in the car, but never manages to get the words right.

Dr Albion Huang

Having lived almost all of his life in Queensland and graduating from Griffith University, Albion relocated to Port Macquarie for his graduate job. Missing his family and friends in Brisbane, he has moved back home for work.

Albion is registered with the Dental Board of Australia and having seen patients for over five years, he has experience caring for patients from a variety of ages and backgrounds. Albion attends conferences and seminars for continual self improvement and is always keen on learning to use new technology. He practices all aspects of general dentistry and takes advantage of any available dental technology for more comfortable patient care. Albion has an interest in cosmetic dentistry and loves to make patients ‘able to smile confidently again’.

Albion has conversational fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese and loves a game of volleyball in his time off.

Dr. Nikesh Patel

Nik graduated from Kings College London in 2009. He then went on to study at the same University a Masters program in Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry at Kings College London for 2 years to further his knowledge and learn the latest dental techniques from some of the worlds best dentists. There are many other post-graduate courses that Nik went on to complete internationally to again further his clinical knowledge and skills.

After several years of working in the UK Nik decided to move down under for a lifestyle change. He moved to Australia with his wife Sima in 2014 and has not looked back since.

His goal is to provide quality family dental care in a warm environment using only the best materials and latest technology.

Aside from Dentistry, Niks hobbies include cooking, golf, tennis, martial arts and spending time with his family.

Dr Yao Teoh

Dr Yao graduated from the University of Queensland with honours in 2014. He worked briefly in private practice but the desire to learn more and expand his knowledge in dentistry drew him back to the university as a post-graduate research student where he worked along side our specialist Endodontist Dr Ralph Reid. He is at the forefont of endodontic research an so has a special interest in root canal treatments. He also provides the latest technology to provide patients with ceramic crowns in a single visit (same day crowns) avoiding the need for impressions.

In between treating patients and his research, he is privileged to be involved in the training of future dentists at two universities in Queensland.

He enjoys engaging with people and working clinically which makes dentistry a real joy for him.

As Yao says ” I believe dentistry is not just a trade but rather a relationship with a patient that extends far beyond teeth alone. I do enjoy getting to know you (and your family) which I feel is the only way to provide the best care possible. Preventative dentistry is important to me so feel free to ask me any questions on maintaining your oral health!”

Dr Christine Cheah

Christine completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Otago in 2002. After working for both Queensland Health and private practices around Central Queensland, Christine set up her own private practice and ran it for 9 years. She joined the team at Swish Dental after moving to Brisbane to be closer to her family.

To keep ahead of all the new developments in the dental field, Christine dedicates herself to ongoing professional education in areas including implant and cosmetic dentistry. She believes in providing her patients with as much information as possible for them to make appropriate choices for their dental health.

When not at work, Christine enjoys long walks and sampling all the wonderful cuisine Brisbane has to offer. She also has a passion for art and loves cooking.

Dr Edward Kuswanto

Swish Dental is happy to introduce Dr Edward Kuswanto who has graduated with honours from the University of Queensland. Loving the sunshine state, Edward has relocated from Sydney and is enjoying the Brisbane lifestyle. Not only is he a diligent academic achiever, but he is also a natural at putting anxious patients at ease with his friendly and bubbly personality. He is dedicated, caring and always gives the best, honest and individualised treatment plan for every patient.

While Dr Edward enjoys all aspects of dentistry including more complicated procedures such as root canal therapy, crown and bridge, he also focuses on preventative dentistry as the best way to maintain your oral health.

Outside of dentistry, Edward loves to play board games, go to the beach and volunteering around the dental community.

Dr Aiden Roze

Dr Aiden Qualified in Baghdad in 2000. He has been registered in Australia since 2008 and has been working near the Gold Coast since. He completed a Masters in Oral Surgery in 2019 giving him the skills to take out teeth which would otherwise need to be removed by a Specialist.

He is passionate about treating the whole family by providing the utmost care in a gentle and caring approach. He is particularly interested in oral surgery dentistry, as well as preventative dentistry, to help patients achieve healthier and greater lifelong smiles. To provide the utmost care, Aiden regularly attends further professional development to enhance her dental skills.

Besides dentistry, Aiden enjoys spending his time outdoors going to the beach or hiking and loves to cook. Aiden is a member of the Australian Dental Association.

Dr Anh Van

Dr Anh grew up in Brisbane and obtained her Dental Qualification from UQ. She has worked in general practice in Sydney and Queensland for over 26 years giving her an incredible skillset that she is proud to offer to patients for them to benefit from.

She enjoys treating patients of all ages and focuses on prevention of disease and rehabilitation of function and aesthetics.

In her spare time she loves to hike and garden. Her family of five and labrador keep her happy and busy.

Prosthetist

Rod Litzow

Rod is our Dental Prosthetist he has many years of experience making and fitting dentures.
He will always take the time to listen to your denture needs and ensure your dentures are cosmetically pleasing, comfortable and functional.
He is an accredited Swiss Denture Concept Clinician and provides his denture patients with the best service possible.

In his spare time Rod is a keen rower regularly competing in Masters rowing regattas.

Recently he has taken up the hobby and is challenging himself in learning how to play the banjo.

Belinda MacDonald -
Practice Manager

Belinda is another of our senior staff, she is a married mum of two and works part time, when not being busy with her family.

Belinda has been with us since 2008 and received her dental assisting certificate 3 in 2008, she has also worked for a year in Scotland.

In her time off she is a keen gardener, enjoys gardening and having day trips with her young family.

Is every dental practice Accredited?

No, dental practice accreditation is mandatory. It is an expensive and time consuming process so not all dental practice become accredited. At Swish Dental we strive to provide the best for our patients.
